"THE KING OF NORTH COUNTRY HUMOR"
|
Fishin’ With Uncle Bud Growing up as a young man, some of my earliest impressions and memories were of the outdoors in New Hampshire. Camping as a boy scout first started me into the wonderment of the woods. The fauna and flora, the natural rhythm of nature, patient and slow as it waited for me to develop from a boy to a man. One of my most poignant memories was that of my fishing experiences with my uncle Buddy. He taught me a lot. Every morning in the summer we would go out in the small aluminum boat and hit all the secret spots. Uncle Bud would show me how to handle worms and night crawlers, as well as what lure was used for what fish. Our poles would bend as we would wrestle with every unwary opponent that would take the bait. Uncle Bud always seemed to know how to reel ‘em in, he had a knack – as some people do – for getting the “big one”. I’ll always remember the mutual excitement we shared as we landed trophy after trophy. I have been hooked on fishing ever since.
